For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
What a time to be in the midst of a LOVE study! (Join our month-long scripture-based study of LOVE here!) ... This weekend, as we celebrate GOOD FRIDAY, we honor and show reverence to God for the sacrifice made by sending His son to die on the cross for us, while we were yet in sin, that we would be saved... AND we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ!! There is no greater act of LOVE than that displayed by Jesus Christ on the cross.
John 10:13 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
"This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith." Romans 3:22-25
His sacrifice is such a tremendous act of love, and it goes even deeper than Jesus giving His life, in an unimaginable manner - but to do so, for a people who were yet in sin, people who hated Him - and to do so willingly... For He so loved His Father in Heaven that although if He had His way, Jesus would not have chosen that fate for himself - He was willing. He LOVED his father, with ALL of his heart and that love was displayed by his "not my way, but YOUR way" obedience. Jesus expressed to His father, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42
Sisters, THIS is the love that we too, should have for our Father in Heaven - a "not my will - but YOURS" love. A love, where no matter the circumstances, we are WILLING. A love where our ACTIONS align with our profession of faith - even in the most challenging of times. A love where we KNOW that His plan is greater than ours. An "it's not about us" love.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." Luke 10:27
In honor of the sacrifice made for us on the cross, let us meditate on this verse this weekend... let us focus and search our own hearts...Ask yourself this question, "Am I loving God with ALL my heart, soul, strength, and with ALL my mind???
DIG IN! (to God's word): Do your homework. Search the word and share verses here, that speak to the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross - the deepest act of LOVE.
