(Are you okay?) Today is a holiday... a day many are able to spend with their families and loved ones. On this day, however, as one who has lost dear family members, I am aware and sensitive to the fact that not everyone is able to do so. There may be hearts that are heavy on today. There may be brothers or sisters that feel alone or lonely. If that is you, reach out to me/us. Let me pray with you. Let your sisters encourage and love on you. Know that you are loved. Know that God has purpose for your life. Know that joy cometh... I am a testament to that. Loss hurts, but God sent His Son that we would have LIFE and that more abundantly and when we abide in Him, He will restore LOVE to your life. No one can ever replace the family and loved ones we have lost, but God can (and will) fill your life and heart with love. God IS love. He loves you. If you are crying... cry out to HIM. HE will answer and He will heal your heart. Love you to life. Have a blessed thanksgiving on purpose,

"Difficult Patients" - Are You Hindering Your Own Progress?

As many of you all know, professionally, I work in the field of Radiology. On average, I see 15-20

patients/day. I see a variety of types of patients: men, women, young, elderly, rich, poor, healthy, ill, and the list goes on. I truly enjoy the work that I do. I am blessed to have the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. I enjoy meeting so many different people everyday. I enjoy the moments we share and many times I am blessed by the brief conversations we have. I get to meet amazing people and so often they share little snippets of their lives with me. We smile, we laugh, sometimes (believe it or not) we are even moved to tears. While many of my patients fall in to the aforementioned pleasant category, unfortunately that is not always the case.

In the medical field, we often see patients who fall into a different category – one we tend to refer to as “difficult patients”. Now a patient may be labeled a “difficult patient” for a variety of reasons. For the most part, a patient who is described as “difficult” is labeled as such because they exhibit some type of behavior (intentionally or unintentionally) that impedes, complicates, or hinders the medical treatment being offered. This is exhibited in a variety of ways. For example, there are some patients who are angry and unpleasant from the moment they walk in the door. They are short with the staff, they are confrontational, and make it very difficult to treat them. They are unwilling to provide or make it difficult for you to obtain information necessary to provide them with the best possible care. Some patients are difficult to treat, or more challenging to treat because they do not trust that you have their best interests at heart. These people are suspicious of you and question everything. Some are difficult to treat because they uncooperative and do not follow instructions well. They do not take their medication as prescribed, don’t show up for appointments, or do not cooperate during an exam. These are just a few examples.

As medical professionals and doctors, the goal is (or should be) optimal health and healing. Speaking for myself personally, I am here to help. With this in mind, it perplexes me when I attempt to help someone, and instead of assisting in their own treatment and progress, they impede progress. As I began to contemplate this, I began to consider the ultimate Healer. Jehovah Rapha – the God who heals. I sat and thought, “Wow. How often are WE difficult patients?” Boom. It hit me hard. God loves us so much. He has so much for us. He wants the best for us. How often do we impede and or hinder His blessing and healing in our lives, because we are

Heart Check. What would YOU have done?

Pastor Jeremiah Steepek (pictured below) transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor at that morning. He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service, only 3 people out of the 7,000-10,000 people said hello to him. He asked people for change to buy food - NO ONE in the church gave him change. He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the ushers if he would please sit n the back. He greeted people to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him.

As he sat in the back of the church, he listened to the church announcements and such. When all that was done, the elders went up and were excited to introduce the new pastor of the church to the congregation. "We would like to introduce to you Pastor Jeremiah Steepek." The congregation looked around clapping with joy and anticipation. The homeless man sitting in the back stood up and started walking down the aisle. The clapping stopped with ALL eyes on him. He walked up the altar and took the microphone from the elders (who were in on this) and paused for a moment then he recited,

Why: It is our desire this year to partner with NPHY to give, to impact, and to shower God’s love on the children/youth they are serving. With My Whole Heart #5 - Gossip

{{Am I loving God with my WHOLE heart?}}

Q: DO YOU ENGAGE IN AND/OR STRUGGLE WITH {GOSSIP}? - Yes or No?
What do I mean? Do you constantly find yourself discussing the affairs/business of others?  Yes or No? ... At work, do you find it a struggle to stay out of the office gossip? Yes or No?  Are you drawn to drama? Yes or No?

[GOSSIP] is defined as: “Casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true.”

>>>>If you answered "no" to the above question(s) - please share how it is you are managing to do so. Share anything that has blessed you in this area. In your quest to love God with your whole heart, what has helped you to remain committed in these areas?
>>>>If you search your heart, and find your answer to be "yes" in any area. Please share you struggle. Let’s become better – together. I am positive you are not alone in your struggles and the purpose here is to become better. As you share, you will provoke dialogue that will bless not only yourself, but your sisters as well. Let us get to the HEART of the matter, together, and may GOD be glorified.

The following scripture(s) speak to the HEART of the matter (as well, I have listed additional verses at the end; I urge you all to take the time to search the word for yourselves. Look these scriptures up, write them on your heart, and apply them to your life):

Notice the harm caused by gossip. Next time you open your mouth, consider what you are saying and apply Ephesians 4:29 to it. Is what you are about to say (spiritually) beneficial to the one who will hear it? Or is it unwholesome, worthless, and/or evil? Will your words cause life or death? 

{Ephesians 4:29 Amplified}
 Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it.
{Proverbs 19: 16}
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he who breathes forth lies shall perish. 
{Proverbs 21: 23}
He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from troubles. 
{Leviticus 19: 16}
You shall not go up and down as a dispenser of gossip and scandal among your people, nor shall you [secure yourself by false testimony or by silence and] endanger the life of your neighbor. I am the Lord. 
{Proverbs 20: 19} 
He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets; therefore associate not with him who talks too freely. 
{1 Timothy 5: 13} 
Moreover, as they go about from house to house, they learn to be idlers, and not only idlers, but gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not say and talking of things they should not mention.

EVERYBODY who is participating, will do {4} things EACH WEEK:

1. READ one chapter/week (Friday-Sun).
2. VISIT THE CORRESPONDING GROUP POST ON MONDAY (a new thread will be posted EACH week on MONDAY) to discuss the chapter (challenges, response to the reading, what you are learning, how you are applying, encourage one another, etc). Check back throughout the week! See what your SISTERS are saying, participate in the dialogue, and encourage one another!
3. ANSWER THE QUESTIONS at the end of each chapter, record responses in your journal AND share HERE. To stay organized, each day we will focus on ONE or TWO specific questions, which are listed by day-of-the-week, below.

Celibacy - To Be or Not To Be? That is the Question.

Good question, right? ... In 2007, I made the choice TO BE celibate until marriage.

Definitions of "celibate":   
1. One who abstains from sexual intercourse, especially by reason of religious vows.
2. State of being unmarried and, therefore, sexually abstinent.

I am currently single. I made a commitment to celibacy shortly after receiving Christ and dedicating my life to

Him, back in 2007... Six long years. (smile) ... During the past six years, I have been in various stages of single:  engaged, in a relationship, on dates, courted, and I've spent time alone. I have learned, I have grown, I have fallen short, I have come to know myself, my worth and value in Christ. Some times have been more difficult than others. One thing I know for sure: if it is your heart to honor God with your body, by remaining celibate until marriage, it will not "just happen". It will take work. It will take a personal relationship with Christ. It will take the love and support of those closest to you. It will take boundaries. It will take prayer. You will need to have God's word written on your heart.

So often, we are told what NOT to do, without being equipped on what TO DO. We know what God would have us to do, but sometimes we don't know HOW to do (or in this case, NOT do it). I can share with you, the life of celibacy is not easy. You have to be extremely intentional and proactive. You must be committed. You must know WHY you have chosen to remain celibate until marriage. You must understand why God is calling you to remain pure. As always, God's "rules" are for our GOOD. He knows that sex clouds our judgement. He knows the risks of STD's. He knows the chance of unplanned pregnancies and the pain of broken families. He also knows the effects celibacy has on the very core of Christian men and women. In a Celibate Christian Courtship, there are many ways God blesses the man and woman involved. For one, NO REGRETS. I can bet, you will never say, "I wish I would have had sex with that man that is not my heavenly-husband-to-be..." How many of us can say the same, for the times we have? You will not regret the decision to remain celibate. As a woman, I can tell you how amazing it feels to be loved and cherished by a man, and to know his love extends beyond a physical intimacy, into a spiritual intimacy. I can barely put into words how it feels to be loved and valued so much, by a man, that it is HIS desire to wait. Many times, there are men who are "willing" to wait, because it is our desire to wait (and that is wonderful)... but to have a MAN tell you "no"... to have a MAN tell you, it is HIS desire to wait. Ladies, can you imagine how much you would adore this man? How much you would respect this man? How much you would trust this man? How safe you would feel with this man? .... Now consider him. To know you love him with your whole heart, yet, you are not giving yourself to him sexually. To know that you love him enough to love his soul, as well, and to want God's best for him, reassures him. He grows to TRUST you like no other woman before. He sees you as priceless. Your purity becomes something he seeks to protect. As he loves you, adores you, trusts you... you love and adore him, respect him, and this cycle continues: love, trust, respect. God KNOWS the men and women He created and He KNOWS what is best for us. Our sacrifice now, pales in comparison to what we stand to gain, in life and in eternity. If we say that we trust Him,
