SE 40-Day Fast!! "PURPOSELY IN HIS PRESENCE"

I would like to present to you all an opportunity to draw closer to God as a body of believers, through fasting! I am NOT speaking of fasting from food. This is a different kind of fast. I am challenging all of my sisters to a 40-day fast {starting July 23rd and ending on Sept 1st} - - Although we have chosen these dates, please keep in mind that you can embark on this fast ANY time! - - of WHATEVER it is that is keeping YOU from spending more time with God. It can be any number of things. Perhaps it is facebook, friends, boyfriend, books, hobbies, or various forms of entertainment such as TV, video games, etc. It can also be what we would consider "good" things like serving others, church functions/activities, etc. These things are good but when they are getting in the way of our personal one on one time with God they become harmful to us. Many things can become idols in our life and we may not even recognize it. Many things can hinder our fellowship with the Lord and this is an opportunity to take a step back and look at these things and reposition ourselves and our priorities.

Joel 2:12 Therefore also now, says the Lord, turn and keep on coming to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning [until every hindrance is removed and the broken fellowship is restored]. ~ (AMP) 

Don't commit to this challenge hastily. I ask that you pray and ask God to lead you in this and what you should be giving up. Once you have decided to COMMIT
then I would ask that during these 40 days where you now have all of this free time You would also COMMIT to spending time in the Word of God, in prayer, and in praise and worship. Just you and God. Simply replace those times where you use to do these other things with God time. It is very easy to allow other things to fill this spare time so you must do this on PURPOSE! Feel free to comment and share with us at any time. Let us encourage one another by sharing that which God is doing in your life during this fast and as often as you like (unless of course you are fasting from fb). We would love to hear how this is blessing you! If you had rather it be just between you and God, that is just fine as well. "I love the idea of this being not about food and I am going to spend tomorrow in prayer on it because I believe I need to challenge myself on this as I believe that lately complaining/talking about my problems has kept me where I am. I heard Joyce Meyer say that if you complain you remain but if you praise you will be raised. I have always had trouble with keeping my life to myself because I am just an open book but as of late it does not always serve me in the best light and I think that I keep hearing this message repeated. "I will be limiting my time on fb. I be allowing myself a certain amount of time each day in the evenings only and mainly for ministry purposes. ♥ The rest of that time when I think about popping on fb I am going to sit down and read some scripture, play some praise and worship music, or just sit quietly(when possible) listening for Him to speak to my heart." ♥ - Tami G

"For me, it will be my phone. From 12-5, I will not use my cell phone. Anytime I have the urge to reach for my phone, I will reach for my bible instead. I will pray. I will meditate on His word. I will listen for His voice. ... As well, for the next 40 days, I am going to listen only to my Audio Bible in my vehicle!! I listen to it while I cook, drive, and even at night as I lay in bed.
