With the New Year approaching, it is often a time of reflection, planning, changes, and yes.... resolutions. Some frown upon resolutions. Others swear by them. Today, I do neither. Instead I offer a humble suggestion. Whether you are for or against New Year Resolutions, consider this: the definition of “resolve” is a firm determination to do something.
In today's world, with all the chaos, murder, suicide, and mayhem that is taking place, we could ALL stand to resolve to personally SHARE MORE LOVE with one another. We could all stand to resolve to CARE more about others, in word AND in deed. We could all stand to pour more positivity into the lives of others in the way we treat people, respond to people, consider others, post on facebook, and the list goes on. So as the New Year approaches, I challenge us all (myself included) to take the time and to think of, not only how we can improve our own lives, but how we can positively impact the lives of someone else. Turn it into a DAILY resolution to bless someone else EACH day - whether with a smile, kind word or compliment, asking someone how they are doing... and then LISTENING to their response, volunteering and giving of your time and/or resources, donating, mentoring, adopting, and the list goes on. Say, “I love you” more. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Take time and work on your families. Love one another. Take time and really TALK to one another. Invest in your children. Invest in your community. Resolve to think outside yourself, this New Year. If you decide to join me,
