SE 31-Day Proverbs Challenge!!! Are YOU Up for the Challenge?!

ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE??? It's that time again!! We've begun the challenge on facebook, and please forgive me, because not all of you are on facebook!! So I am sharing it here on the BLOG as well! It's not too late - we're only on Day-7!!  Join us on SE as we grow and challenge one another. If you accept this month-long challenge, comment below that you've accepted - it's important we support one another and hold one another accountable!! :) You can do the challenge here on the blog with us OR join us on facebook, also click "share" and share on your page that YOU have accepted the SE 31-Day Proverb Challenge, and/or invite others to join the challenge!!  Don't worry if you weren't with us from the beginning - it's never too late to jump in! Let's have fun with this!!

Riverside Community Church had a great template, and we will follow their outline...
The 31 Day Proverbs Challenge is a very simple way to engage God's Word and share it with others.  Here are the basic guidelines:
1) Starting today, read the chapter in Proverbs that corresponds to today's date.  For example, if today is March 17th read Proverbs 17.  If today is March 20th read Proverbs 20.  If today is March 1st read Proverbs 1.
2) After reading the chapter, choose one verse from the chapter that you want to share with someone, and post it as a COMMENT below.  From our earlier example, if today you read Proverbs 17 then you might choose Proverbs 17:10 "A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool."  Or you may choose Proverbs 17:17 "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity."  You may find it hard to choose just one.
3) Go public with it!  Post it on your personal facebook status or twitter account AND on the SE page or group wall. Tag it #SEproverbsCHALLENGE
Add it to the autosignature on your emails.  Make a point of working it into a conversation throughout the day.  Sit down as a family or with a group of friends and share which verse you chose. The possibilities are endless...
4) Come back to our blog/page and leave a comment to tell us how you are choosing to take on the challenge, so others can be encouraged by your stories!
5) Tomorrow, do it all over again...for the next 31 days.

Are YOU up for the challenge??  Be blessed! ... And BE a blessing!!

* Note - because we already started on facebook and have been BLESSED tremendously thus far, I thought it would be nice to share some of what's been taking place on our SE Page this week. I pray that you are BLESSED and that you will JOIN US in this challenge, by reading Proverbs daily and coming back here to post what God moves you to share, in a comment, here on the blog, below:

Day-2 / Proverbs 2:10-12 "When Wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things..." I am loving this challenge!! God is truly so awesome and I love Him so much! ... This verse is beautiful to me - almost poetic. When wisdom enters your heart and knowledge is PLEASANT TO YOUR SOUL, Discretion will preserve you. ... What pleases YOUR soul? If spending time with God, in His word and in His presence, doesn't please you... If hearing His voice and spending time in prayer, doesn't feed a hunger in your soul... Then something is just not right, my Sisters. Sometimes we need to slow everything down, and re-gain focus. Don't get caught up in the things of the world, that may "feel" good, but don't "fill" your soul! With wisdom, comes knowledge. With knowledge, comes understanding. With understanding, comes discretion. And with discretion, comes deliverance from the ways of the evil. Notice the process. Thank you God, for your wisdom, knowledge, and understanding - it is PLEASING TO MY SOUL. ♥

  • 'Tish McNeil Day 2- Proverbs 2:5-7 "5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.
    6 For the LORD gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless"
When we seek to know His wisdom we will fear no one but the Lord. Seek Him first and His kingdom and you will be blessed!

Day 2: Proverbs 2:21 "For the upright will inhabit the land,
and those with integrity will remain in it."

I selected this scripture because as we know we were all born in sin and generally fall short of GLORY, BUT being in this group (@Sisters Evolve) is a testament to how we all are aspiring to walk with integrity and become better Christians.

My prayer for today is FATHER, I thank you - Please set a guard over my mouth and speak to me before I speak out loud, give me the proper words and correct my actions. As said in the prayer of Jabez, I ask that your hand would always be with me and that you would keep me from evil so that I may not cause pain to others. LORD I ask for your guidance as I work on my flaws, and that through your word, I seek for your wisdom to be imparted in/on me for a more sound mind to act according to your word.
(Additional Scriptures Psalm 3:3, Psalm 28:7, Psalm 62:7)

    Proverbs 2
1MY SON, if you will receive my words and treasure up my commandments within you, 2Making your ear attentive to skillful and godly [a]Wisdom and inclining and directing your heart and mind to understanding [applying all your powers to the quest for it]; 3Yes, if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, 4If you seek [Wisdom] as for silver and search for skillful and godly Wisdom as for hidden treasures, 5Then you will understand the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of [our omniscient] God.

Receive and treasure up His WORD! This spoke to me so loudly today. Seeking as in a quest for something of great worth! This really made sense to me when I began to tie in obedience as not just outward observance but a hiding away of His Word in our hearts which brings forth the fruit thereof. These scriptures also came to mind...

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

Matthew 13:44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command.

1 John 2:3 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.

Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Jeremiah 31:33 "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

2 Corinthians 3:3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

There are many more but I will stop there. It is not now nor was it ever meant to be a religion full of rituals but a falling in love with the ONE TRUE GOD! Thank you God for the opportunity to know you and to rest from all our fruitless labor! Thank you for empowering us with your heart with your Spirit that we could walk in your Way and love you from the inside out!

  • Andrew N Alexis Johnson DAY2= Proverbs 2v17 --->Who's faithless to the husband she married years ago never gave a second thought to her promises before God.

A covenant is the most binding commitment you can make to another person. It is a serious vow and should never be taken lightly, either before or after the ceremony. Our promises in covenant are taken before God Himself...Amen God Bless

    Proverbs 2:16-20 GWT

Wisdom will also save youfrom an adulterous woman, from a loose woman with her smooth talk, who leaves her husband, the closest friend of her youth, and forgets her marriage vows to her God. Her house sinks down to death. Her ways lead to the souls of the dead. None who have sex with her come back.Nor do they ever reach the paths of life. So walk in the way of good peopleand stay on the paths of righteous people.

You cannot lend your members to just anyone. The bride of Christ (the church) is made up of many. Some are faithful and wise while some have lost their way becoming a vessel for seducing spirits neglecting their husbandman. We as the body of Christ must make a contcious effort to be connected with those that strive for rightness in order to avoid a dead end life.

Day 5 / Proverbs 5:11-13 "And you mourn at last, When your flesh and your body are consumed, And say: “How I have hated instruction, And my heart despised correction! I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me!" - - Sisters, let us not have to come to a point where our body and flesh is consumed, before we realize the importance of obeying our Heavenly Father's instructions and commands. Let us realize NOW that all that He says and instructs, is for our own GOOD. Let us make up our minds, hearts, and souls to LIVE for Him and to seek His ways in ALL that we do, all that we say, and all that we ARE.

Day 5 - Proverbs 5: 21 "For the LORD sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes."

PSA: I'm internalizing this Challenge to reflect on myself, forgive myself, and grow stronger.

I selected this scripture because it speaks to so much of what I do and others have done and will continue to do. We think hmm, "if I do this no one will know or if I do that I can hide it" - NO, GOD knows and sees all. Did you do what you did so that you can bring GLORY to HIS name?
Of course not, you did it to bring satisfaction to your sinful self - Don't get me wrong, I TOO am guilty of doing this... Although, aren't you glad our LORD forgives us and gives second chances? Have you confessed to HIM the things you know you have done wrong? You can't explain away your transgression because he knows whats in your heart and why you do the things you do no matter how you rationalize it or how you say it or cry about it, you can only repent and ask for forgiveness.

FATHER today I ask for your forgiving mercy and for a stronghold to be placed over me in my weak areas, send me to the scriptures that will help bind me in godly acts and keep me from doing wrong. I pray I don't falter, but FATHER I am one step out of the world and one step into your land. As I search for refuge and understanding within you, I ask that you continue to speak to me as you have been these days and continue you to give me the strength to be a better woman, not for myself but for my child(ren), for my family, for the ministries I work with - so that my [positive] example is what is seen.

      Day 5 ~ Proverbs 5:12 And say:
      “How I have hated instruction,
      And my heart despised correction!
13 I have not OBEYED the voice of my teachers,
Nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me!

In this I am reminded that I can know and fathom all the wisdom that can be offered but it does no good if I am not putting it into practice. If I will not do that which I am instructed to do by God then i am going my own way not His, doing my will not His. In doing that I am hating and despising instruction and, if I remain walking in this way, correction. We must not deceive ourselves in thinking because we do not turn away from hearing the Word of God preached and taught that we are loving and accepting His instruction and correction, His Way. His Word is given as a light unto our feet so that we can WALK in it!

James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Luke 6:46 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

John14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

The previous verses are in NKJV the following are in NIV...

1 John 5:3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 John 1:6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
John 14:23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
John 15:10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love

1 John 2:3 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 John 2:6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

Once again this in not to condemn but the bring forth the truth and allow the truth to set us free as we continue to WALK in the WORD!
